The Royal Marines Base at Chivenor is located along the beautiful North Devon coastline between the town of Barnstaple and the village of Braunton. Chivenor is home to about 1200 personnel from all three services. Verde were appointed by OCS Group UK Ltd to design and build a new artificial turf pitch that would be compliant with FIFA & World Rugby standards.
The construction was complex, primarily due to the proposed pitch footprint containing many unground services. In addition to fully investigating the area prior to construction, Verde employed an innovative drainage solution which eliminated excavation throughout the entire pitch footprint. In fact, only the floodlight foundations needed to be excavated. We were able to construct all other elements above the pitch formation. The completed project is a fantastic asset to the servicemen and women who use the base.
About Contact
From all of us here at the OCS Group, thank you so much for the great teamwork and collaboration throughout the project…I’ve relayed this before, but it can’t be overstated – we are thrilled with the results of the project. Comments from the end user have been extremely positive and we could not have done it without each of you. The level of professionalism, teamwork and service was astounding. From a project manager’s perspective, there were very few situations where I would have like to see anything go any differently – I’m very impressed!
